It started with a Facebook message. Bernie, having already known Heather through mutual friends, was feeling particularly bold one weekend and sent her a note asking to hang out. She ignored him at first, but by sheer coincidence ran into him the following day while in Georgetown with a group of friends. They ended up spending the entire day with one another and hit it off immediately.

As their relationship got more serious over the years and Bernie was ready to propose, he knew he had to find a way to incorporate this into his plan as it was such a huge part of their love story. He took her out for drinks, slipping away for a moment to use the bathroom. Heather received a text a few minutes later to check her Facebook messages. Confused, she headed over to the app to see a note from Bernie asking her to join him outside. As her heart raced, anticipating what was to come, she left the restaurant and found him on the Georgetown waterfront where he asked her to be his forever. After replying with an all-resounding ‘yes’, the two whisked away to meet up with friends and family that Bernie had pre-gathered at a restaurant nearby. As they were surrounded by those they love most, the planning quickly began for what will be one of the best day of their lives!

Heather and Bernie are getting married in a DC Ritz Carlton wedding this October and I am SO looking forward to their big day! These two have such a natural, joyful chemistry between them that it’s clear it’s going to be an amazing wedding celebration!  That same chemistry quickly came across as we photographed their engagement session as they were posing like pros after only a few minutes — enjoy their engagement session in the place that clearly means so much to them, Georgetown!
