The Nationals are arguably the most successful sports team in Washington, DC right now (sorry Rob, Redskins just aren’t cutting it!), so it’s no surprise that I have a lot of clients who are big fans of the team — in the past month alone, two of my couples have gotten engaged at their stadium downtown! One of those couples is Katy & Mike and the proposal story is just too cute not to share. 

These two love going to the games, so when Mike had a birthday surprise planned for Katy and told her to wear a Nationals shirt, she knew exactly where they were headed. It wasn’t until they arrived that she realized he scored two seats for them in the President’s Club, which features some of the best views in the entire stadium. There are a ton of awesome perks that come along with sitting in the Club, one of which is a lot of free snacks, so Katy didn’t think twice when Mike handed her a bag of Cracker Jacks. He was really encouraging her to open the prize and when she did, she found the engagement ring which he had snuck in there earlier! At the end of the game, they were gifted one of the game balls as one last way to remember the magical evening. 

I actually heard this story for the first time at another one of the my bride’s weddings! That’s right, you might remember Katy from Ainsley’s wedding photos as she was one of her bridesmaids! They have been longtime friends and during the reception she told me they were  in the market for a Washington, DC wedding photographer; you can imagine my excitement when I had an e-mail in my inbox from these two about setting a meeting!
