Let’s be honest — February isn’t exactly known for it’s beautiful weather. So the fact that I had not one, but two engagement sessions last month that were both filled with sunshine and warmth was a blessing, to say the very least. Molly and Brandon, being DC natives themselves, thought it would be fun to have a downtown Washington, DC engagement session with stops at the Lincoln Memorial and National Mall. They wanted to include their darling pup, Sterling, who they just adopted five months ago, so we were all crossing our fingers and hoping for nice weather so she wouldn’t freeze while we were shooting! 

Molly and Brandon are getting married this October at Breaux Vineyards in Purcellville, VA — but their story starts years earlier — nearly a decade earlier in fact as these two were high school sweethearts! They met through mutual friends while living in Arlington, VA and dated for several months. That summer, Molly, being a year older, headed off to college and took their new relationship with her. They survived the challenge of long distance and both picked up to attend UNC Wilmington the next fall, together. While at UNC, Molly and Brandon spent a semester abroad in Barcelona, Spain where they traveled throughout Europe on weekends, exploring new countries and trying new customs. After graduation, they landed back in DC, where they started the rest of their lives and still call home. Molly and I were shocked during our first few exchanges how many mutual friends we shared with one another; DC may be a major city, but the “small world” factor comes in more than you could ever imagine!

Molly and Brandon were just a breeze to get along with from the moment we met and I had so much fun during their session getting to know them and Sterling! Their style is impeccable and played perfectly with the grand monument as our backdrop! I cannot wait for their wedding day in just a few months — October will be here before you know it!
