Wedding days, much like the entire planning process, go by in a flash. The morning is usually spent getting ready and enjoying some quality time with your closest friends, but the moment you step outside to head to your first look or ceremony, the rest of the day tends to be a bit of a blur. And while I can’t guarantee exactly what each day will look like as they are all so different, I know one thing is for certain — you will give and receive more hugs on your wedding day than probably any other day in your life! Trust me, as a self-proclaimed “hugger”, that’s certainly not a bad thing! But for our dapper grooms, it does cause that beautiful boutonnière designed by your florist to get a bit crumpled!

This is particularly true on a day that incorporates a first look. Just think about it… you’ll be hugging your partner as you see one another for the first time that day. Then you’ll be greeted by your entire wedding party who will be so overjoyed to celebrate with you that the hugs are practically endless. And don’t even get me started when parents arrive — that speaks for itself! So think of all that love and joy you’ll be receiving, and that’s just before the ceremony begins! 

I highly recommend to all my couples to consider asking their florist for a backup boutonnière for this very reason! Don’t worry, you’ll only need an extra for the groom, but theirs tends to be slightly different than the rest (it is his big day too, after all), so you’ll want to specify it’s for this specific purpose! Then as soon as it starts to look a bit worse for the wear, you can make the swap and ensure you have a fresh looking bout all day long! Believe me, your photos will thank you!
