Last year I had the honor of travelling to Charleston, SC to capture Michael and Katelyn‘s sunrise anniversary session on film. Anniversary sessions, by nature, are some of the most romantic portraits I have the privilege of capturing; while many couples are together years before they marry, there is something that changes when you become husband and wife. Your bond only gets stronger as you make your way through the years, side by side with one another. And being one of my favorite cities in the US outside of Washington, DC to photograph, I truly believe there is nowhere more fitting than Charleston! 

So when I had the opportunity to return to Chucktown again earlier this spring to capture Maggie and Jake’s first anniversary, I couldn’t agree fast enough! Maggie and Jake are actually wedding industry professionals as well, she a photographer and he a videographer. I definitely have some first-hand experience at how much pressure our peak seasons can put on any marriage, so to see they were taking some time to celebrate their lives and love for one another was amazing. Anniversary session are just that – a small reminder of deep connection you and your partner share, the one that gets you through the good and the bad.

I don’t know of any blog that shares this point more eloquently than Fine Art Marriage, so I knew I wanted to share Jake and Maggie’s story first directly through them. FAM, thank you so much for this amazing support you provide to married couples.
