It pretty much goes without saying at this point that 2020 is the year of elopements! As COVID quickly cancelled many of the large events planned for the year, so many couples opted to still move forward with saying their vows so that they could enjoy being married. In fact, I had three elopements within a one-week span this August and have several more coming up this fall.
Kendra and Ben are just one of my sweet couples from 2020 who decided to elope! Their families live up in CT, so when they were planning their I do’s, they wanted it to be an intimate ceremony with just the two of them. So much so, that Kendra actually was able to become ordained in DC so she could legally wed the two of them! They were married exactly one year to the date of when they plan to celebrate next year at the Cosmos Club, this time surrounded by those that they love from all over the US.
While their elopement may have been small, it was still a beautiful afternoon in Northwest Washington, DC that was full of so much love. After their nuptials, Kendra and Ben joined their friends in a nearby park where they dined on their favorites cheeses, ham (for Ben!), and cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake. And I can’t forget the lovely bottle of champagne sent by Kendra’s father that was from 2006, the year she and Ben first met.
I can’t imagine how hard it must have been to make the decision to push of their big wedding day until 2021, but after spending the day with these two, I know it will be worth it to have the day they’ve always imagined next year! Looking forward to celebrating with them and their families at the Cosmos Club!
