Over the past few weeks, Rob and I have been absolutely spoiled to have been blessed with not one, but two showers. See, most of my family — parents, grandma, aunts, uncles, etc — live in Hershey, PA, which can be a 3-hour plus drive. It’s far too long for most elderly folks to travel and I didn’t want to leave anyone out from sharing in our joy. But on the same token, most of my friends live in the Washington, DC area and I didn’t want to miss celebrating with them either! So my wonderful mother agreed that she would be willing to host two separate showers; one shower in PA and the another in DC!
My PA shower was back in early July when I was still fairly early in my pregnancy — being a Washington, DC wedding photographer significantly limits available weekends in the summer, so we had to go with what worked! My second shower was an afternoon tea at Lady Camelia in DC with some friends who are near and dear to my heart. Everyone donned their favorite pearls and fancy hats and it was such a blast! Both showers were incredible, to say the least, and I cannot thank my mom enough for taking on the task of planning both!
But two showers and lots of gifts for our future baby isn’t really why we feel so lucky; it was the simple fact of having everyone we love in one place (or, well, two places, but you get what I mean!). The outpouring of love during this pregnancy has been such an eye opener of just how truly blessed we are to have such amazing friends and family members in our lives. We have no doubt that Baby Lacey (who has yet to be named, truly — we aren’t keeping it a secret we just haven’t finalized one officially!) is going to be one very loved boy!
Special shout out to Lauren & Steph for coming — I’m so sad I missed pictures with you both!!!
