Blair and Sioban were married in an enchanting, old-world inspired wedding at the Virginia House in Richmond, VA earlier this spring. The lush magnolias were in full bloom as these two said “I do” in front of their closest friends and family at this stunning locale. The Virginia House is unlike any other site I’ve come across in all my years of photographing weddings in Washington, DC/MD/VA; as a former English manor home, it’s truly a slice of history. It was completed just months before the stock market crash in 1929 and overlooks the James River. The venue itself is tucked away from unsuspecting eyes, making it the perfect spot for those looking for an intimate wedding.
The impressive architecture of the Virginia House, however, wasn’t the only showpiece of this gorgeous spring day. Trust me when I say, there’s nothing quite like a fabulous color palette or stand-out bouquet to highlight the details of a wedding, but this enchanting day somehow managed to incorporate both perfectly! The moody, old-world vibe of the details was inspired by original fairy tales from Brothers Grimm and the timeless qualities they have represented throughout history. A darker color palette full of varying shades of blue set the stage for the moodier side of their tales while at the same time appealing to the modern bride seeking a fresh take on a fairy tale wedding.
But it was, of course, the love that Blair and Sioban shared for one another that was the true centerpiece of this stunning Virginia House wedding in Richmond, VA. It was small moments, like when Sioban snuck kisses or whispered in Blair’s ear, that you knew these two had something uniquely special. Thank you both for allowing me the privilege of capturing such a sweet affair!
