Courtney and Nick had a beautiful sunrise engagement session in downtown Washington, DC at the US Capitol and Library of Congress. These met on their very first day of law school in Arkansas, so it’s only appropriate that we also made sure to stop by the Supreme for a few images (we made the best of it, despite the seemingly never-ending construction!)! They moved to DC for work, doing long distance for a short period of time before both find permanent law firms here in the city. But they will be heading back to Arkansas for the wedding, but Courtney — being the organized individual that she is — said planning has been a breeze and has almost everything complete for their spring 2026 wedding, a year in advance! She liked having her pick of vendors available and always wanted to have time to just enjoy the engagement once all the big ticket items were booked! Now they get to focus on the best part… the honeymoon!
For their engagement session, we were coming off a weekend that called for nothing but rain. Each day seemed to have passing showers, but you never knew when they were going to hit… this is why I gently urge my clients not to obsessed over the forecast — they can barely predict what is coming an hour before it arrives, let alone a week! Thankfully the rain had passed overnight and we were greeted with clear skies on a cool, spring morning in Washington, DC. Clouds speckled the atmosphere, creating a slight overcast that made for the most stunning portraits!
