Welcome to my blog, where I share highlights of everything from my client's wedding days and portrait sessions, to recent features and our adventures around the world.

Hi, I'm Alicia.

The Portrait Project | Claire

May 3, 2017

Do you ever see those names that just continue to pop up on your social media feed? You’re scrolling through Facebook or Instagram and find yourself completely stopping to take in everything about an image. And I don’t just mean the way it was photographed, but the way it was designed, styled, and executed? That’s how I first came across Claire, the woman behind Claire Duran Weddings & Events! I remember reading the “credits” for a particular image and knowing that she had a talented to reckoned with (future ALP Brides — you definitely want to hire this amazing wedding planner!). I finally had the opportunity to work with her last May at a shoot organized by my dear friend Camille and could not have been more excited to photograph her designs. Claire is one of the rare planners that doesn’t just focus on the big picture, but all the little details that form a bigger idea. It’s an incredible thing to see and I certainly hope to work with her more in the future. I loved having the opportunity to photographer her for The Portrait Project, so read a bit more about her below!

Name | Claire Duran
Age | 31
…I always get complimented on my face, but my favorite feature is actually my hair.
…I haven’t always been proud of my post-maternity body, but I’m learning to embrace it.
…I feel most confident when I’ve just gotten my hair done!
The last time I felt truly beautiful was…
When my husband and I got cleaned up and dressed up for our fifth-anniversary session on the beaches of the Dominican Republic.

What is something that has been a challenge for you over the past year?
Balancing my work and family life. I know this one is so common among many entrepreneurs — especially mompreneurs — and I really need to push myself to compartmentalize better.
