As a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I feel like I’ve been lucky enough to see the full gamut when it comes to wedding design and decor; everything from floral chandeliers and cocktail hour llamas to a cotton candy bar and flamenco dancers. I love getting to see what makes each and every client’s day unique and special to them and Stephanie and Marcus’ wedding was certainly no exception.
Detail-oriented doesn’t even begin to describe this bride. She’s the talented force behind SRS Events, so as a wedding planner, Stephanie creates and handles events like this on a daily basis. But her vision went above and beyond my wildest expectations. Upon arrival at Oxon Hill Manor, all guests were greeted by a stunning Clydesdale horse and offered a glass of champagne — the perfect combination, if you ask me. This venue itself is a timeless piece of property, but with all the additional flowers and dressings, it was even more beautiful.
It wasn’t, however, until I walked into her reception space that I felt like I landed in a secret garden fairytale. Acrylic chairs lined blush tablecloth draped tables and hints of dusty blue were present at each place setting. The lush florals designed by Highway to Hill were bursting off each table in soft hues of ivory and cream. In the back of their space, a decadent cake created by Sweet by E was just waiting to be cut into. For the gentlemen (or the daring lady!), a whisky and cigar bar sat a top an antique gold bar cart. And, the best part of all, all of this beauty was under a clear tent which is a photographers dream because — hello! lots of natural light!
