It’s no secret that I absolutely love styled shoots and the most recent one that was photographed at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens in Leesburg, VA was certainly no exception! Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I don’t get to photograph in that area as frequently as I’d like, but after this shoot I know this is high on my bucket list! Their stunning hedged gardens made the perfect backdrop for our Provencal French wedding complete with stunning floral dripping in lavender and lots wine, cheese, and even a crepe cake!
In the past, I’ve worked on two, sometimes even three, per year and have had such a blast getting to work with the best of the best when it comes to vendors. That being said, putting together a styled shoot in a TON of work – it’s essentially like planning a mini-wedding! You need to have a solid vision and then work to create unique elements that will complement that theme and inspire future brides. So I decided that this year instead of planning a bunch of smaller shoots that I wanted to put all my effort into planning one larger shoot!
In late 2015, I began planning this shoot as I knew I wanted adequate time to assemble the “A-Team” of vendors. Each and every person who contributed to this is one of the best of the best in the field and I was completely humbled to have them all as part of my vision. We came together on the most beautiful day in early April and created something that was beyond what I could have ever imagined. Our full team of vendors is credited at the end of the post – be sure to check them out and enjoy these images of our creation!
