As a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I feel so lucky to live in a city that was designed with Paris in mind by French architect, Pierre Charles L’Enfant. Sure, I’ll be the first to admit that we certainly have more than our fair share of traditional, bland government buildings and lack the epic skyscrapers of larger cities like New York — but as you walk through the NW district of DC, you immediately feel as you’ve entered the City of Love. It boasts sidewalk cafes, gorgeous white stone architecture, and even our own Seine — the Potomac. I think it’s so easy to get swept up in the idea of visiting a foreign country, especially one as romantic as France, and we forget the beauty that is in our own backyard.
This Modern French wedding was able to tie in all those different aspects that make Paris so desirable — two young lovers with a keen sense of fashion, the decadent desserts, tablescapes filled with fresh, colorful blooms, and the understated beauty of demure details. The theme was highlighted by the white marble architecture inside of the venue as well as the grand staircase out front. So while DC will never actually be Paris, it is our own little slice on the East Coast that can be styled to be reminiscent of this magical city.
These images were shot at the Modern French Styled Shoot organized by the lovely Camille Catherine Photography. A huge thank you goes out to all the amazing vendors who made this dreamy French wedding come to life!
