I had so much fun getting to know Olivia and Kyle during their Meridian Hill Park engagement session this July. Their story began like something out of a modern-day dating fairytale — Olivia, after a few failed dates, was ready to take a break and focus on her career; Kyle, on the other hand, was just getting ready to jump back in and was looking forward to his first date on Bumble. They originally just met for coffee, but found themselves so deep in conversation that they ended up adding dinner into their plans that evening. When I asked Olivia why she was ready to throw in the towel on dating before she found Kyle, she said it wasn’t that she had any particularly BAD dates, per se, it was just that she could never find “the one”. Clearly that changed when she met Kyle and these two are set to be married next August in Baton Rouge, LA!
I’m hoping these two have as beautiful of a day as we had on the morning of our shoot! It was a cool summer day that was more reminiscent of fall than mid-July. We basically had the entire park to ourselves… well, ourselves and several dogs! Meridian Hill Park was practically overflowing with dogs that morning and one sweet pup even roamed up to us to play! His mom wrangled him so that the three of us could dote all over him — trust me when I say he stole the show! He is supposed to be creating a dog calendar and I not-so-secretly hope that one of the photos from this morning makes the cut!
Olivia & Kyle — I’m so sad I won’t get to celebrate with you next year (I’m photographing the wedding of one of their dear friends here in DC — you may remember them from their cherry blossom engagement session!), but Jenlain and I will share a cheers in your honor!
