One of my favorite parts about being a Washington, DC wedding photographer is the predictability of unpredictability on a wedding day! I’ve been capturing weddings across the District for over a decade and can promise that no two wedding days — even at the exact same venue! — have been alike. Between protests and parades, events and motorcades, there is always something happening in the city. But, personally, I love and thrive on planning for that which cannot be planned for!
Cristina & Fitz’ wedding day fell on the same weekend as the Pride Parade in DC, a beautiful event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. The only downside was, in order to hold the celebration, there were quite a few road closures on their big day. As we navigated from the hotel to the church, and then the church to the Jefferson Memorial, we found ourselves hitting roadblock after roadblock. Luckily, the day was being led by the fantastic team of Marriage & Mimosas which had added in substantial buffer time to our timeline — even before we knew about the parade! That’s what I mean about planning for the unpredictable — you know it’s always just around the corner and you might not know WHAT it will be, but the worst thing that happens is you might just have a little extra downtime on your wedding day should nothing occur!
Despite the delays, we still captured a stunning day for Cristina & Fitz across some of the most stunning sites in DC! I absolutely love how their day turned out, so keep scrolling for a peek into the celebration from beginning to end!
