If you’ve been reading the blog at all over the past few months, you might recognize these two as they are certainly no strangers around Alicia Lacey Photography! They had the most stylish Georgetown engagement session with their adorable pup last summer, a wedding at the iconic Washington National Cathedral, and a reception at Running Hare Vineyard. I’ve gotten to know them quite well over the past year or so and was completely honored when they also asked me to capture their official Catholic ceremony just a few days prior to their wedding celebration with friends and family from all over the world. A traditional Catholic ceremony is something that is required for the Vatican to recognize a marriage and since the National Cathedral is an Episcopal church, they got to throw on wedding clothing one extra day for a union at Holy Rosary in Washington, DC, which is a win in my book!
Along with getting to see these two, I also got to meet their immediate families a few days in advance; it made the wedding celebration even more fun that Saturday getting to see all those familiar faces from just a few days prior — and it made remembering names even easier! After the ceremony we wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous day and stopped first by the Capitol for an iconic shot with that infamous dome as our backdrop. We then headed to The Jefferson Memorial where a summer camp full of kids were so excited to see the “princess” walking by them and even helped us with some veil throwing shots!
It has truly been such a pleasure to get to work with Nico, Joanna, and their families as they planned for the big day — I am going to miss hearing about all the unique details and gorgeous dresses this lovely bride was always cooking up! People like this sweet couple is why I can say, without hesitation, I love what I do!
