As a Washington, DC anniversary photographer, believe me when I say I follow quite a few blogs to keep up with current trends in the wedding industry. In this day and age, they are so many options that it can almost be overwhelming in your social media feeds if you follow too many! Belle Lumière, however, has long been one of my favorites for their innovative “film only” policy which truly make everything they post a work of art. I enjoy following them so much that when they announced they were holding a workshop at RiverOaks in Charleston, SC last spring, I, of course, signed up immediately. I learned so much in that two-day span that I have applied to my business over the past year; I’d highly recommend it to any one looking to further their film work.
When my dear friends Mark and Emily asked me to photograph their Goodstone Inn anniversary session, I knew this would be a chance to stretch my film legs once again. I had previously photographed at this stunning location in the past and knew it offered a variety of unique locations that would be the perfect backdrop for this dreamy shoot. After all, I had helped Emily plan her outfits from BHLDN weeks in advance, so I knew exactly what look she was going for!
The best part is when everything truly came fully circle after the shoot. I always love to get my client’s sessions published, if possible, and this one was no exception to that. The ethereal nature of this shoot made my mind immediately leap to Belle Lumiere when brainstorming a good submission location. I was ecstatic when they agreed it was a good fit and couldn’t text Emily fast enough to share the good news with her and Mark!
So if you haven’t already, please head over to Belle Lumière directly to see the full feature here!
