Over the years as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to photograph multiple siblings from the same family on more than one occasion. And I can promise you, there is no better feeling than seeing their name pop up in your inbox along with the words, “I’m engaged!”. I’ve said this so many time, but I truly adore my couples. I often jokingly get asked by friends or family members about wedding day horror stories and honestly? I have none. In over 100 weddings… NONE! I have the best couples, hands down, and don’t say that lightly. So when a sibling of a past couple inquires with me, I already know I’m in great hands and I get genuinely excited to see their families again!
All this to say, clearly, that Rebecca is the sister of my sweetest past bride, Sarah, who you may remember from either her Georgetown engagement session, her epic bridal portraits at the Branch Museum, or her wedding day with Jack at the John Marshall Ballrooms. And these two aren’t just sisters, but also TWINS! So when I heard that she and CJ got engaged, I was over the moon! But let’s start back at the beginning…
Rebecca & CJ met on a blind date in their hometown of Richmond through mutual friends! At first it was supposed to be a simple “casual group hangout”, but their friends ran with that idea, to say the least, and they found themselves alone at dinner and nearby cidery. Both said that the connection was instant and they have been inseparable every since.
Just over two years later, they found themselves vacationing at his family’s home in Marathon, FL. After a day spent exploring Key West, he took her down to the beach… where, unbeknownst to her, CJ had asked his parents to help set up lights, music, and flower petals so he could propose. The plan was almost foiled by a “Did she say yes!?!” text from an excited co-worker, but luckily it ended up being a complete surprise. Trust me when I say that I’ve seen the photos and it’s as adorable as it sounds!
These two are to be married next October at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA and I cannot wait to rejoin their families for another wedding day!
