Sitting down with Maddy for the first time to discuss her big day was like meeting with an old friend. It didn’t feel like I was there to be interviewed about my skills as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, but instead to discuss ideas and color palettes like I was one of the bridesmaids! And this is how I always want things to feel — a connection should be personal as this is someone you will likely work with on a regular basis for nearly or over a year! Once we finished wedding talk, we moved on to discussing our pups
Once we finished wedding talk, we moved on to discussing our pups. I absolutely cannot talk about Maddy and Alex without talking about their dog, Frankie, because anyone who knows me knows I am mildly dog obsessed (which I’m sure is the understatement of the year)! They adopted sweet Frankie from the Ambassador Pit Bull Alliance during one of the many pet events at Reston Town Center. When I first met with Maddy and Alex earlier this summer, they just gotten back from a play date with one of his siblings — pretty much solidifying how much I liked these two! Frankie’s sweet demeanor lasted throughout their entire session, even as I took them from place to place on the National Mall. And I couldn’t help but love his camouflaged collar and name tag, paying homage to his dad’s former military career. Alex is currently studying at GMU while Maddy works as a marketing specialist.
These two are getting married next June at one of Virginia’s most beautiful new vineyards, Stone Tower Winery, and I cannot wait to celebrate with them! The rolling hills of vines are reminiscent of something you’d expect to see out west and I’m so excited to capture the sun setting over it for our evening portrait session — it’s sure to be epic!
