I had the privilege of photographing a wedding at one of my favorite venues in Washington, DC — DAR Constitution Hall. I used to work near the White House in NW and would enjoy walking around the city to get out of the office at lunchtime. I always ended up strolling by DAR and would marvel at its beauty. Its timeless architecture paired with the classic white stone exterior makes for the quintessential DC wedding.
The wedding was all planned by an incredibly sweet couple, Joanna and Chris. They met during a training session at their office and hit it off immediately. But, like all good romances, there was a slight twist — Chris is actually from the UK and was based in London at the time. After reconnecting several times over the next year or so, they decided to take their relationship to the next level and Chris made the grand gesture – he moved to the states to be with Joanna! Their deep love for one another was something very special that is hard to put into words; you can see and feel it as soon as you are in their presence.
I cannot wait any longer to share these images with you! Joanna and Chris were married at St. Matthews Church and we had two hours in between when the ceremony ended and the start of cocktail hour. We couldn’t have been more excited to take full advantage of that time for couples portraits and drove all around the city to some amazing locations, including a balcony overlooking the DC skyline and the rooftop of DAR itself that boasts a spectacular view of the Washington Monument. Enjoy!
