Personally, I always find something a bit exciting about shooting at a venue for the first time… there’s just something about walking through the doors and not knowing what to expect! And I love the thrill of looking for portrait locations and stumbling across “the one”. This was the case during Colleen and Ted’s Chevy Chase Club wedding last April (and is why I always arrive 30 minutes before my shooting time begins so I have time to location scout on the day of!). The property itself is a stunner; completely unassuming from the road, but as soon as you pull into the parking lot, you know the inside of this building is going to be epic. It’s one of the historic and prestigious country clubs in the Washington, DC area for a reason, after all! The bay window in the back of the ballroom overlooks the seemingly endless golf course and, to my delight, is also where the sun set that evening!

But the Chevy wasn’t the only stop during this wonderful wedding day — Colleen and Ted were married in a church in Georgetown and then went to the DC War Memorial for some additional portraits! I told you, this one was a dream and I felt like I couldn’t stop pressing the shutter button during the entire 10-hour day!
