Michelle & Chris were married during a stunning Carnegie Institution for Science wedding in Washington, DC earlier this summer. And like most modern day fairy tales, these two originally met online. Michelle was fresh off a recent breakup and started putting her profile together to see what was out there. Before she was even finished filling in any information, she had a message from Chris asking about one of her pictures taken at an oyster restaurant in Baltimore. After chatting for a few days, they set up a dinner date at a local oyster house… which quickly turned into drinks at the bar until the waiters basically turned off the lights. He walked her home and the rest was history!
These two enjoyed more than just oysters together over the next several years — so much so, in fact, that they could pretty much predict the other’s next move. Before a recent trip to California to visit San Francisco & Napa, Michelle had a feeling it might be “the” time that Chris was planning to pop the question and, like every girl would, went to the nail salon at 9PM the night before their 6AM flight to have her nails fixed up! Seeing as she rarely cares about her nails, Chris knew she was onto his plan and dragged out the proposal until the very last day of their trip. They made a quick detour to Sausalito, before meeting up with family, where he took her down to the water to propose.
So as it turns out, Chris didn’t need to join a band or start marathon running to find his person, he just needed to look for the girl who loved oysters — and if that isn’t true love, I don’t know what is!
A huge thank you to these vendors for making Chris & Michelle’s wedding amazing! And to Rebekah Emily Photography for being an awesome second shooter!
