I always find it so fitting to kick the off my “Best Of” series with rings! If you think about it, that’s truly what kicked off this entire journey! I mean, of course each couple met, grew their relationship, and fell in love (minor details), but the start of MY relationship as the wedding photographer to these amazing couples begins the second someone says “YES!” to those four little words. 

It never fails to amaze me how much a ring says about a couple. There is so much more to a ring than just size; different shapes, colors, settings — you name it, it can probably be created. At each and every single engagement shoot, I always ask to hear the story about the proposal as a way to get to know my couple a little bit better. But I also love hearing about the ring. Who picked it? Did the other have any idea it was coming? Did they give you suggestions of what they liked? There is truly no right or wrong answer and I honestly mean that; I just love to hear the stories! And as they head back to their car or the local coffee shop to change, I take some time to photograph that token of the promise to share their lives with one another. 

Fast forward to the wedding day, and suddenly one ring becomes three. And really, what’s better than three rings!? I kid, I kid! These rings are each meaningful in their own right as that promise now becomes eternal. Two people sharing their lives with one another, for better or for worse. All of that wrapped up in a tiny circle that reminds us that when the “worse” does come to fruition that we made a vow for forever. That’s pretty powerful stuff, folks! All that to say, back to my main point, rings are the start of the journey to man and wife and therefore, a perfect way to kick off a wrap up of 2016. Enjoy!
