I had the honor of capturing Kelsie & Josh’s Whittemore House wedding in Dupont Circle this spring. Over the years of being a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I’ve been very lucky to shoot at some truly unique locations. It comes as no surprise that this city is filled with historically rich venues and Whittemore House was no exception. This site plays host to various weddings and events, but also doubles as the headquarters of the Woman’s National Democratic Club. No matter which way you lean, seeing the faces of so many influential women throughout history who graced those same halls was both humbling and inspiring.

The Whittemore House wasn’t the only historical part of Kelsie and Josh’s wedding day, however. We also took a short trip over to the Anderson House at the Society of the Cincinnati for some stunning wedding day portraits. See, while these two got ready right next door to their ceremony and reception venue, we weren’t allowed inside until later in the afternoon. These two were excited about sharing a first look with one another (my favorite!) and so we had to improvise a bit. Luckily, after doing a bit of research in advance, I connected with the amazing staff at the SoC and they were so accommodating to our request. On a sunny spring day, their blossoming trees and European architecture made for an incredible backdrop for photos. 

I think you’ll agree when you see the photos below — between the classic portraits, the historical ceremony, and the sweet friends and family that surrounded these two, it was a more than perfect wedding day.  A huge thank you to Kelsie, Josh, and their parents for having me capture such a fun, personal wedding — I loved getting to know all of you and celebrate the biggest day of your lives!
