From the moment I first chatted with Kristine and Will about their Thomas Birkby House wedding, I knew it was going to be one of my favorites of the entire year. I have previously photographed several weddings at this hidden venue in Leesburg, VA and was completely enamored with its classic charm and unique layout. The house itself emits a vintage interior that is quite common is Old Town Leesburg. The outside, however, is a romantic garden, complete with a stunning open patio that allows the couple to truly make it their own. This means that every wedding photographed at the Birkby House has a completely different look and feel from the last. Krissey and Will chose a soft color palette of blush pinks, muted mint greens, and cream and their floral designer, Holly Chapple, incorporated each of these into her stunning creations.
I think, however, that there is one main reason K&W ended up selecting this spot for their big day and it has nothing to do with aesthetics… it was because they wanted their sweet fur baby, Cleo, to join their special day! She arrived just after their first look and stayed for some of the cutest portraits taken all day. It’s no secret that I am a huge dog lover, so you can just imagine my excitement when they shared this part of the plan with me. Even Cleo donned a floral collar so she was completely in sync with the atmosphere of the day.
I know I’m not really allowed to pick favorites, but if I’m being honest, this was truly one of them for the 2017 season! I wanted to ensure these two were able to relive the joy of their wedding, as well as show off all the hard work they put into planning. I was ecstatic when Tabitha of United With Love wanted to feature their wedding as I couldn’t have wanted a better “home” for their images!
