I felt an immediate connection with Klaas & Amanda after reading their first wedding inquiry e-mail to me. They told me that the earth shook the day they met…. which it turns out, it did; they met as students at Johns Hopkins’ on the same day as the Washington, DC earthquake in 2011! So if you know me at all, corny jokes are a quick way into my heart.
But that was just the beginning. Klaas continued to tell me about how he knew Amanda was “the one” when they went on a 5-week backpacking trip through Europe, which, hello, Europe is definitely my third love to my husband and my dog. My husband and I have been on two major trips so far with another planned this fall. We have enjoyed visiting many of the same locations and chatted about our favorites during their entire session.
But our third connection just might be my favorite of all; we are both so utterly obsessed with our dogs that we call them our “best friends”! As you’ll see below, Riley joined us for pictures at our sunrise session at the Washington National Cathedral and she is just the sweetest little thing; she hung by our sides the entire morning and was constantly anticipating my moves and poses — I think she is quite the little model pup!
I’ve said it once, but I’ll say it again. Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer is such a blessing. It allows me to meet so many couples that I would otherwise never have the opportunity to know. DC isn’t the biggest city, but you can certainly go a day without seeing anyone you know. It’s refreshing to know there are so many more chances now for me to meet wonderful people like these two. Klaas & Amanda, I absolutely LOVED finally getting to meet you two; we are going to have an amazing time at your St. Matthews Cathedral and DAR wedding this November! If only we could find a way to sneak Miss Riley in, but I’m not sure the staff at Daughters of the American Revolution would love that :)
