I sat down to begin this post and thought to myself, “what to write…”. I realized, it’s almost easier for me as a Washington, DC anniversary photographer to write about couples that I’ve just met because I only have a small amount of information of what I’ve learned through our meetings, e-mails, and engagement session. I’ve just learned their love story and get to share it with the world. 

But for these two, it’s quite different as I was there at the beginning of their relationship. Not many kids are lucky enough to be at their parent’s wedding, but I was! In 2002, the three of us left for two weeks in Maui, Hawaii, where my parents would be married in a romantic ceremony on the beach at sunset. As a fourteen year old, I missed my friends and was a huge brat, but looking back I realize how truly special it was that I was able to be present for that moment. 

I’ve always been close with my parents, so it’s been hard the past few years living in VA while they are back home in PA. We’re only three hours apart, but life is crazy and we don’t see each other as much as I’d like. Every few years, we get to spend a week or so together on vacation and it’s something I look forward to for months. This year we travelled to Hilton Head Island in SC with them and I wanted to make sure to capture of few images as they are celebrating 13 incredible years of marriage! Mom & Devin, I can’t thank you enough for being a never-ending source of love, support, and guidance. Your marriage continues to be an inspiration to Rob and I and we can’t wait to watch it grow over the coming years.
