Annapolis Estate Wedding

Of all the weddings I’ve photographed as a Washington, DC wedding photographer this year, I somehow have been lucky enough to say that it has yet to rain on a single one of them. I knew it was bound to happen sooner than later, especially this time of year when the seasons are in that crazy limbo between the summer heat and the cool, crisp breezes of fall.

I feel like I am probably making this sound more dramatic than it was, though. I mean, it did storm – HARD — with all out thunder, lightning, and down pouring rain. However, we were fortunate enough to have already completed the majority of the day before the sky opened up, so we were at the reception under their large tent where we could safely (and dryly!) watch it pass over the Chesapeake Bay. And no one seemed to be mind one bit, even in spite of the mini-waterfall that fell upon the dance floor — everyone just pitched in to get it cleaned up so they could get back to dancing! The outpouring of love for these two was amazing; they had been together since they were in high school and had friends present from childhood all the way through their various undergrad and graduate colleges of Georgetown, Cornell, and Columbia.
