Airlie Center in Warrenton, VA is one my favorite wedding venues in Northern VA, but also made the perfect backdrop for Caitlin & Luke’s engagement session this fall. I loved not only getting to catch up with these two as it had been months since our first Skype date, but to finally get to meet their pups in person after following them on Instagram! They were as sweet as can be and I truly cannot believe how many good pictures we captured because managing two dogs can be a struggle no matter how well behaved they are! When I asked how/when they got both dogs, Luke joked that Caitlin doesn’t commit to anything without a dog involved; see Frank was part of their dating story and Chunk part of their proposal!
These two were looking to make the move out to Lake Anna as they both loved the slower pace of life outside of Washington, DC (can you blame them!?!). Luke found a beautiful home that he wanted to show her, but also knew he was ready to propose. Knowing how much Caitlin was dying for a second dog, he had to find a way to incorporate that into his proposal. They arrived at the house, Caitlin thinking they were just there to tour, and walked in to find stuffed puppy in a basket. She knew it was for her and couldn’t have been more excited until… it moved! It wasn’t a stuffed puppy at all; it was little Chunk sleeping! Caitlin says she can’t even remember if she said actually said “yes” as Luke dropped to one knee to propose because she was just so overwhelmed with joy at the whole situation!
Cait & Luke, I am so excited for your wedding next May at The Market at Grelen — I can’t wait to celebrate with you and certainly hope that sweet Chunk makes an appearance as ringbearer!
