Each wedding day, I always arrive 45-60 minutes before the bride steps into her gown, which is something I intentionally plan for several reasons. First, I love having a moment after arriving and setting down my gear to greet her and meet all of her bridesmaids by name — these are the girls who will be helping me ensure a perfect day for our bride-to-be, so we are a team!
The second reason, and the main reason I give myself so much time, is that I begin to photograph all of her bridal details. I truly believe that every accessory is part of your story; it sets the tone for the day and I know, as a former bride myself, how much time and thought you put into something as small as earrings. As such, each item deserves it’s own photograph! These little details are what sets your day apart and makes your day YOU! I put a small reminder in my questionnaire asking my bride to set all these items aside for when I arrive so I can just grab them and get to shooting — if anything is missing from the pile, it’s always easy pretty easy to find with one of the bridesmaid’s help (see, teamwork!).
Most brides have a checklist of everything they need to remember to pack for the day of: their shoes, earrings, necklace, perfume, rings, garter, and, of course, their dress. But the most forgotten item is often your invitation suite! This is a huge aspect of your wedding day — it’s truly the first item your guests ever see before arriving — and I want to make sure that it is documented along with your other details. Because this isn’t something you wear, it’s often missing from your checklist. And with enough on your plate already to remember for the wedding day, I’ve come up with an easy solution that has since worked great with all of my brides — that is simply mailing a copy directly to me, your wedding photographer! That way I receive it in the mail with your complementary stamps and pack it in my bag before leaving for your wedding. It’s simple and easy to remember, and takes one more item off your already full plate! If you’re not already convinced, here are a few of my favorites!
