Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer gives me the opportunity to meet so many amazing couples that I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Charlotte and Colin are one of those couples; they are getting married next September in Maine, but were looking for a local photographer to take engagement photos so they could look back on this time and, of course, use them on their wedding website! I was really looking forward to getting to know them better and can officially say that I’m pretty sure Charlotte and I would share a closet — or I would at least steal from hers! Her gorgeous Rent the Runway dress was something I absolutely would have picked out myself and it was perfectly accented by her vintage fur that is a family heirloom. And I can’t leave out Colin who looked so dapper in his suit, complete with cuff links and a vest.
Besides obsessing over great style, getting to know their story and a bit about their lives is what I truly love best. Colin was introduced to Charlotte by his co-worker who was her post-college roommate. They shared an immediate connecting, but Charlotte told him up front that she wanted a true courtship — real dates to form a real connection; none of this just hanging out on the couch stuff! Colin accepted the challenge and clearly it worked out for the best. He proposed in their apartment, surrounded by all the wonderful memories they had made throughout their years of dating.
It was so nice getting to know the two of you during our session wandering the streets of Georgetown! Charlotte, I’m obviously smitten with your family and all the cool locations you’ve lived, so let them know I’m open for adoption ;) In all seriousness, I sincerely wish you both nothing but the best and can’t wait to stalk pictures from your wedding next year!
