Samantha and Ash are being married next October in a Mayflower Hotel wedding that is sure to be a gorgeous affair! These two both originally came to Washington, DC from FL and CA respectively for one reason: law school. After meeting in the first few weeks on campus, they quickly realized this was going to be the place they would now call home, together.
I remember the first time I met with them, Ash recounted the story of how he popped the question to Samantha; it was one of the best proposal stories I’ve heard to date (and trust me, I’ve heard quite a few!) and I immediately knew I would have to share it on their blog post! So, the story begins this past January, when they traveled to Florida where Samantha’s family resides. The plan was set: he would ask her to play tennis, where he would have a picnic ready afterwards and she would find an album filled with pictures since they started dating. But the weather had a different idea in mind: rain. And not just a quick shower that swept in and out, but a torrential, never-ending downpour. An elaborate Plan B was quickly set in place that revolved around a conference call he needed to take at the local library. Except there was one major caveat — he had never been there before and wasn’t sure exactly where to pop the question! When they arrived, he furiously tore throughout the venue looking for the backup spot and all the while, Samantha curious as to what in the world he was doing. He finally found “the” spot and she, realizing what was about to happen, asked him, “are you ging to propose!?”. I can’t make any promises, but I told them that it sounds like they have already gotten their dose of rain ruining wedding-type plans and that certainly the big day will be nothing but clear skies and sunshine! I know that was the case for their engagement session at Dumbarton Oaks and am hoping portraits at the Jefferson will be just as beautiful!
I am SO excited to celebrate with you and your families next October, exactly one year from tomorrow!
