I met Caitie and Steve in Georgetown for their engagement session the Monday after Thanksgiving. I know winter doesn’t “technically” begin until the end of December, but every year I feel like it arrives as soon as that holiday ends. There was certainly a chill in the air that morning, but these just snuggled closer and enjoyed the incredible sunrise over the Potomac River.
We had this session planned for what feels like forever. See, these two currently live in Ohio and were just home for the weekend to visit their families; we snuck in their session right before the had to head back. Ohio is clearly a special place to these two; it’s not only where they call home, it’s also where they got engaged! When they decided together that marriage was the next step, they immediately started ring shopping so Caitie could put Steve on the right track. Since they decided on the final ring selection together, he knew he wanted the proposal to be a surprise. He knew she would catch on if it was an elaborate plan, so he thought a bike ride would be best. They liked to ride a 20 mile loop where they could stop halfway and have dinner. Just before they go to that halfway point. Steve stopped for a break and wanted to head down to the river to check out the view; it was there that he popped the question!
Caitie and Steve will be getting married next July at the Inn at Huntingfield Creek on the Chesapeake Bay. I told them that I can’t make any promises about the weather, but I do know one thing for sure — it will certainly be warmer than it was for their engagement session! I cannot wait to meet their families and celebrate with these two over a delicious slice of pie!
