Belle Lumière was one of the very first blogs I followed when I started this new journey as a Washington, DC wedding photographer so many years ago; I loved their online journal and how they seemed to be so much different from so many of the traditional wedding blogs. They are absolutely a source of inspiration for brides, but they also serve a larger base, as an inspiration to many photographer’s as well. BL is truly a curation of fine art, and exactly the type of publication I had in mind when creating this shoot. I wanted to do something out of the ordinary from your every day wedding shoot (which don’t get me wrong, I love those — but it’s always fun to push yourself!); I wanted to create art that sought to light the imagination of the viewer — allowing each person to see themselves as our main character and focus not just on what she is wearing, but what she is thinking and feeling as she prepares for the day ahead. Sure, beautiful details are a plenty — but take a moment to look beyond that and transport yourself to this stunning cotton plantation.
Hearing that Belle Lumière not only saw, but understood my vision, was truly a huge surprise and honor. I am really excited to announce that I will actually heading down south this May to attend their workshop at RiverOaks in Charleston, SC. I cannot wait to meet the editor, Lexi, behind this moving blog and learn more about their intentional thought process. They have several sure-to-be amazing shoots already planned as well as a full day of learning from some of the best in the industry.
I can’t wait to share the full shoot with you next week on my own blog, but for now, please head over to Belle Lumière’s journal to see our incredible shoot featured here — enjoy!
