I always love having the chance to relive some of my favorite weddings, so I was really excited when Borrowed and Blue sent me a note that they would be picking up Miranda & Tyler’s wedding! Their day at The Barn at Walnut Grove was perfect from beginning to end and I loved getting to see their images one more time! Living in Washington, DC, the main backdrop I tend to photograph ranges from historic library and monuments to grand ballrooms and marble porticos. And trust me, I certainly do not take that for granted; I love every minute of shooting in DC, but it’s always nice to try my hand at something a bit different. I have photographed quite a bit in Charlottesville, VA at many of their stunning wineries and vineyards, but that’s on the east side of the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains. To get to Walnut Grove, you actually have to drive over the mountains, putting you on the West side which is a completely different view. I was not at all surprised when I went out back to see the ceremony space set up overlooking this stunning location. Mirand and Tyler kept the space minimally decorated because the natural landscape did the work for them. That’s the great thing about getting married outdoors; it’s typically in a location that you can’t recreate even with the best set of vendors! There is something to be said for the natural beauty of the great outdoors. I may be a bit biased, as we were married outside at Potomac Point Winery, but I truly think there is just something so special about.
Regardless, the reception space, however, was dressed to the nines! Miranda put in a lot of hard work deciding how to decorate the space and the results turned out beautifully. I think you’re going to love this one, so to see the full feature, head over to Borrowed and Blue here!
