I was so excited to return to The Inn at Huntingfield Creek for Caitie and Steve’s wedding day this summer. Having previously shot at this venue (also in the summer!) and knowing how July is infamous for it’s sweltering temperatures, I knew it was going to be a hot one. But I’m not exaggerating one bit when I say this is exactly the couple I would’ve picked to photograph on a humid summer day! In all of my e-mailing with Caitie about the big day, I knew it was going to be a breeze. Their focus was simply on one thing: celebrating their marriage with friends and family. As long as that happened, these two would be happy — and happy they were! They didn’t stop smiling from the moment they saw one other at their sweet first look. I honestly don’t think they complained a single time about the heat and when they found out one out of the two AC units were broken in the church? They were just glad that one was still working!
The threat of early evening thunderstorms loomed as they so often do in the peak of summer. We were saving the majority of our portrait time until sunset in the hopes of giving the day some time to cool off, but as the forecast worsened, I knew I had to make a call. These two took the change in stride and I actually love how the impending storm was captured so beautifully in their pictures on the dock! We returned to the reception space just as the skies opened up and these two danced the night away without a care in the world but each other!
A huge thank you to these vendors for making Caitie & Steve’s wedding amazing!
