It never, ever fails that I always get sad to write this post! It’s probably no secret that wedding portraits are, by far, my favorite part of the day purely from a photography standpoint. Sure, do I love arriving early just to play around with those beautiful details? Of course! But I know those aren’t the meaningful images. They help tell the story of the day, but the main plot of that story is about your marriage and what better way to display that than through couples portraits?
I had the absolute honor of photograph 20 different couple’s weddings this year and each one seemed to only get better than the last. As I’ve previously mentioned, there is nothing I love more than working closely with my couple over the year or so of our relationship and getting to know them on a personal level. I certainly do not pretend to be a wedding planner (I know some very talented ones who are MUCH better at that HERE!), but ensuring your photography goes off without a hitch does require some pre-planning and throughout that process, I learn so much about each bride and groom. By the time I hug them one last time on their wedding night, it feels like saying goodbye to an old friend. And yes, I do get to see some of them again for anniversary photos or just to catch up. But often times, lives take you to new places and so when I post this post, it feels like saying one final goodbye to the 2016 season. There aren’t too many things I can say for sure about 2017; I don’t know which weddings will get rained on or which ones will encounter lots of tourists. But I do know one thing: if the year goes even half as good as 2016, I’m in for a real treat!
To all my 2016 ALP Couples – it has been an honor to capture each and every one of your wedding days!
