It’s been almost exactly one year since Heather and Bernie tied the knot in a classic black tie affair during their Washington, DC Ritz Carlton wedding. I can still remember their wedding like it was yesterday. It was the last weekend in October and that undeniable fall breeze was in the air. The weather was absolutely perfect; just cool enough that you could be outside without too cold or too hot. The entire wedding party, all 20 of them, were in great spirits as they were driven around in a limo SUV from spot to spot.
But it wasn’t until we arrived at the Ritz Carlton for their reception that the party truly began. I still can recall Heather gasping as she entered the ballroom and, to be completely honest, I think I did a bit as well! The space was absolutely perfect and decorated to the nines. Their four-tiered ivory cake, complete with their monogram, was nothing short of pure elegance and demanded your attention as the focal point of the room. I loved the combination of round and long tables, each dripping with candles, flowers, and small favors for their guests.
Luckily for me, the day began as detailed as it ended! Heather donned a pair of classic Badgley Mischka heels and the most stunning lace wedding gown I’ve ever seen. The cream lush bouquets complemented the bridesmaid’s soft pink dresses and you wouldn’t believe just how timeless her navy and white invitation suite was. It’s always such a delight to work with a couple who loves planning out those small little details because they truly can be one of my favorite things to photograph.
They are also what inspires other brides, so I was very excited when a local DC blog, District Weddings, was able to feature their full wedding day with their readers. To view the full feature, please head over to District Weddings here!
