Most couples arrive at their engagement session a little nervous for what’s about to ensue and that’s completely normal; as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, that’s what I’m here for — to guide you through your session and get you comfortable before the big day. After meeting Hally and Nick, on the walk to our first location, they mentioned they thought they might be a little awkward in front of the camera and I reassured them I would alleviate all of that within the first fifteen minutes. I swear to you, within less than five minutes of starting, these two were basically creating their own posing and just ROCKING this session!!! You two couldn’t have been more comfortable with one another and I think that shows in all your images! 

That comfort they have with one another is something that has been built over the past few years of dating. After randomly meeting one St. Patrick’s Day, Nick found excuses to visit DC from Philly just to be around Hally. As things got more serious, he eventually moved to the area so they could stop dating long distance! 

Nick found himself ready to propose, but wanted to make sure it was a surprise; he knew Hally would catch on to any extravagant dinner plans, so it had to be subtle, yet special. He bought champagne and flowers, burst in the door of their condo and couldn’t pull the ring out fast enough before heading an excited “yes!”. They then went to celebrate with their friends and family that Nick had gathered nearby who were in on the plan! 

I am so looking forward to next June when I get to be part of the celebration for Hally and Nick’s big day at Shadow Creek in Purcellville, VA. Thank you both for challenging the NPS in good spirits with me on this beautiful October day — I had a blast getting to know you and can’t wait until next summer!
