You might remember from Lauren & Russell’s post last week how I talked about my love of photographing my couples in locations that are meaningful to their love story. Well, Stephanie and Robert were certainly not an exception to that idea, as we met down in Blacksburg, VA to shoot their session at Virginia Tech where they met and fell in love as students only just a few years prior. Let me take you back down memory lane to share a bit more about their sweet story! 

Stephanie was a sophomore on The Marching Virginians at VT when she spotted a cute new freshman, Robert, on the cymbals. They hit it off quickly, as they saw each other daily at practices and events, which soon turned into more than just a friendship. Their relationship continued throughout their stay at the university, but Stephanie graduated a year before Robert. Through a lot of work and dedication, they were able to maintain their romance long distance; Stephanie bought alumni tickets and visited each time their was home game. It was during a weekend away in Williamsburg this past summer when Robert asked Stephanie to be his wife. 

Stephanie and Robert are actually going to be married next summer at the church my husband grew up in — as a Washington, DC wedding photographer, I absolutely love when the Stafford, VA connection comes into play! It is certain to be a day to remember; Stephanie is one of the sweetest, most thoughtful people I’ve met and I know that’s going to translate into her big day! Thank you both for showing me around your campus and telling me about all the little details that make it so unique — I had an absolute blast! And Stephanie, I cannot wait for your bridal portraits amongst the weeping willow trees and beautiful fields down in Fredericksburg next summer; it will be so nice to catch up before the wedding gets here so I can be cued in on all the surprises for the day!
