Motherhood is a beautiful thing. Trust me when I say that I love nothing more than being a Washington, DC wedding photographer; my passion truly lies in photographing couples as they embark on the biggest day of their lives. But as my business continues to grow and evolve, I find that there are other parts of couple’s lives that I adore as well. Part of every collection I offer is an engagement session to capture that time before you say “I do”. I’ve also been growing my fine art anniversary sessions as I feel so connected to married couples. I capture these intimate sessions on film as a nostalgic look back through the last year of their marriage. As any married couple knows, love is easy but marriage is hard and I think it’s important to remember the challenges we face together each year. Not every anniversary session looks the same; some are fresh-faced couples celebrating one year of marital bliss while another may be a seasoned couple that has experience 46 years of challenges. Neither is better than the other, but both are worth remember. There are also the instances when a particular year of marriage may mean celebrating a new addition to your family! That was the case with Ashley, as she and her husband, Michael, were about to welcome a baby boy.
I had previously shared their stunning fine anniversary session from the Goodstone Inn a few weeks ago, but was super excited when I hopped on Facebook during my lunch break today to see a huge surprise; Ashley and Michael’s session was also being featured on The Fount Collective, a blog dedicated to the art of motherhood. I am so honored to have them share this session as it was especially near and dear to my heart.
