I wish I could say I love decorating — truth is, I’m kinda lost when it comes to it! I’ll find a really cool piece that I want to incorporate into our home and just have no idea how to do it best. However, I of course love having our home decorated, so this is one of the things where I feel like if someone already invented the wheel, why re-do it? I take a TON of inspiration from Pinterest and blogs (hello, Katelyn James — seriously, how is she so talented at everything!) when it comes to decorating all the space in our new house. I try not to copy item for item, but instead take a picture and put my own spin on it. Or if I find an item I love, I look up ways other people have used it in their home and see what will work best for our space.

The house is definitely still a work in progress. My husband and I came from a tiny, one bedroom apartment so filling all the rooms will take some time. It’s also just the two of us for now, so no need for every room to be full! The “tour” will start with out main floor. Check back next week for part 2!

This is our entry way as soon as you walk in the front door. Tried to keep a consistent theme of blues and greens throughout the main floor — our first floor is a completely open floor plan so everything flows together!

Our office is immediately to the left and is our “travel” room — we covered it with tons of pictures from all of our favorite places we’ve been to! Also, yes, our bookshelf is filled with Harry Potter books.

This is probably the least used room in our house that is furnished — the “sitting” room. That wall is one thing is our house I did copy exactly, not my own idea at all! The design was highjacked straight from Katelyn James… Those are her images though, so it is fitting :)

This will be our dining room… one day. We already hosted our first holiday here, but we just use folding tables that we decorate with tablecloths and knick-knacks to look pretty! With how little we would eat it there, it just isn’t practical for now. I am, however, obsessed with this dining room light — aren’t the bulbs the coolest?!

I LOVE our kitchen! It’s super spacious and lets in so much natural light. Plus there is a double oven which I have been dreaming about for years. Not crazy about the cabinets being the same color as the floor, but that can always be updated.

Finally, our living room! This is probably the spot we hang out the most outside of sleeping :) All our white furniture was from IKEA and the couch is a hand me down from my parents. It may not look like much, but it is SO comfortable!

Bonus: Our half bathroom on the left and our laundry room is on the right. I thought I would hate having the laundry room in the pantry, but it’s kind of convenient!
