If you read my Back to Paris post from a few weeks ago, it should come as no surprise as to why this city is such an important part of Rob and I’s love story. Knowing we would be there mere weeks before our fifth anniversary, it was without a doubt, the place where we wanted to have our fifth anniversary photos taken. As soon as we finalized our travel plans and dates, I immediately knew the next person I wanted to contact; Abby, someone who has been both a friend and incredible mentor, first photographed Rob and I nearly four years ago, when she was just starting to delve into the world of film. I had followed her work long before that and, of course, since then and would consider her to be one of, if not the most, influential artists on my photography career. In addition to her outstanding work, I’ve always loved that while Abby photographs stunning black tie weddings in Washington, DC and the most elegant ballerinas in Paris, she remains humble and down-to-earth — someone you can always call if you ever need help with a problem, no matter how small. On top of all that, he love of Paris is rivaled by few, so there was truly no one more perfect to capture this milestone in our story.

Five years later, it’s been pretty amazing to look back at how much Rob and I have changed from year to year and how much we’ve grown together as a couple. These anniversary sessions are a reminder to look back on your accomplishments as a couple and see where your marriage has taken you — we’ve adopted our first pet, bought our first home, traveled the world, and started a business (!!), all in such a short period of time. And those are just the “big” things. We also have watched 20+ TV shows, eaten some fantastic Chinese food on our couch, and walked miles and miles around our neighborhood with Granger. All those moments, big and small, are wrapped up these images to remember as the years continue to go by. If we’ve done those things in just five years, I can’t wait to see what we do with the next fifty.
