Designing a styled shoot is no easy task. There are so many great ideas out there that it seems nearly impossible to narrow it down to just one. As that’s just me speaking as a Washington, DC wedding photographer; I can’t imagine how brides are feeling these days with inspiration available at every turn! I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again… while my wedding may not have been super trendy or in style today (I mean, hey, it was only 4 years ago!!!!), I’m still happy it was MINE. Because Pinterest is a fantastic tool, but also one that’s easy to fill your head with too many ideas — yes, there is such a thing! All that to say, this is why there are so many wonderful planners and designers in our industry! But that’s a chat for another day because for me, I do like brainstorming styled shoots. I typically like to start with a location and build my shoot from there. So much is based on a venue as I believe it’s what sets the tone for the big day. You wouldn’t have a rustic wedding at a historic library in DC. Or a black-tie affair at a barn in Leesburg. Neither location is bad, they just assume a certain type of wedding. For this shoot, I had been dreaming at what a Swannanoa Palace wedding would be like and put together a romantic interpretation that I knew I would want to submit for publication.
Without further ado, I am incredibly excited to share that the romantic blue and cream styled shoot I photographed this past May in Charlottesville, VA at Swannanoa Palace is being featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs! I truly find so much inspiration in every classic, timeless wedding they post, so I am absolutely humbled to featured among these beautiful images.
I cannot wait to share more of this amazing collaboration with you all next week, but for now head over to EAD to check out the feature here!
