When I think about where I live, I feel one thing: lucky. Being a Washington, DC wedding photographer is such a privilege. Sure, it comes with a lot of traffic and dealing with masses of tourists, but the locations we have available to photograph in and around are like nothing else in the world. New York City may have beautiful high rises and Califonia stunning beaches, but there is something about the iconic white stone of DC that constantly wins my heart. Maybe it’s the timelessness of it all, but those classic venues will always be my favorite! And at the top of that list is DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution. I’ve photographed two DAR Weddings and knew it would be the perfect backdrop for the shoot I had in mind. Previously this summer, I captured a NYC elopement in Central Park and wanted to do something similar in my own city.
I gathered up a dream team of vendors and together, we created this modern twist on a classic elopement. I love the juxtaposition of the Sweet Caroline Styles’ light blue tulle gown against those classic white columns you’ll see across the entire city. The bouquet created by Sophie at Blossom and Vine is certainly one of my favorites to date and wait until you see the gold handwritten calligraphy on a fondant cake. With all of these unique details and one gorgeous couple, I was hoping to be able to get the work of these talented folks in the wedding industry featured somewhere fabulous! Well, I truly couldn’t think of anywhere better than one of the world’s largest wedding blogs, Wedding Chicks! It’s my first time having a post on their wonderful page and I am beyond excited to share that with you all. Please head over to their blog to view the feature in its entirety here!
And like every feature I share, these would not be possible without a dream team of vendors! Please check out each one who participated in this shoot below:
