I don’t think there is any city I love more than Charleston, SC. In all of our travels all over the world, I’ve never found a place quite like it. It’s found the perfect balance of being a beachside town all while being a historic city. There is truly something for everyone down there: exploring plantations, sitting on the beach, shopping downtown, or just relaxing in the country — I promise, it’s there! Oh and I can’t believe I’ve already gone three sentences without mentioning the food. The. Food. My goodness, I am a Yankee by birth, but I certainly have a southern stomach! I wish I was exaggerating when I say that I literally ate a biscuit every day I was in town. Fried chicken at Jestine’s Kitchen. Filet topped with pimento cheese, of course, at Magnolia’s. And I can’t forget the best chocolate pudding/mousse/heaven dessert ever at Hominy Grill. 

But I promise we did so much more than just eat! On previous visits, we spent time at Boone Hall Plantation, Middleton Place, and Cypress Gardens, so we knew we wanted to check out a few new spots. This time around we went to Legare Waring House for Brittany and Stephen’s anniversary session and walked the historic trail at Charles Towne Landing after we wrapped up. We also headed out to Magnolia Plantation to explore their beautiful gardens because, bonus, they are dog-friendly! 

The next morning we woke up before dawn to watch the sunrise over Sullivan’s Island beach, again with Granger in tow. We saw two dolphins cresting along the shore and it made for a truly magical morning! The day ended at SEWE, an expo that was in town for the weekend that featured live retriever demos and dock dog jumping! If you can’t tell, Rob and I are huge dog lovers and what makes this city even better is just how many options they have to include your furry family member! 

I’m already scheming a way to get back down south and can’t wait for another trip to Charleston!
