Welcome to my blog, where I share highlights of everything from my client's wedding days and portrait sessions, to recent features and our adventures around the world.

Hi, I'm Alicia.

VA Bride Magazine: Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Wedding Feature

Apr 17, 2018

If you’ve been following the blog for any amount of time, I’m fairly certain you will recognize these two as they have been in front of my camera on several occasions! I first photographed their Old Town Alexandria engagement session, then their Cathedral of the Sacred Heart wedding in Richmond, and even had the opportunity to take some anniversary photographs when we both found ourselves in beautiful Charleston, SC at the Legare Waring House. Their wedding was actually also featured on an online blog, The Black Tie Bride, shortly after they were married. I loved being part of their day so much that I actually ended up wanting to submit their wedding a second time — this time to a print magazine, VA Bride!

Virginia Bride will always be near and dear to my heart; after Rob and I were married at Potomac Point Winery in Stafford, VA our wedding was featured in this magazine! I’ve loved working with their sweet and talented editor, Angeline, and one of my past brides, (also named Brittany — you may remember her Outer Banks beach wedding!) is also on their staff. Her wedding was in an issue of VA Bride as well, so trust me when I say this is a pretty outstanding publication.

Having a wedding published on any source is such a high honor; there are so many stunning weddings that take place each and every weekend that only a few can be shared. Blogs, as an online resource, have a fairly quick turn around time so a couple can have that instant gratification of seeing their big day almost right away. Magazines, however, are planned out much further in advance, so it can be months, even years, before they are released. Personally, I love the build up of waiting to see something in print, it makes it even more special when the copy finally lands on your door! There is just something about holding images in your hand (remember, print your images!) that will never go out of style. Be sure to pick up the latest issue of VA Bride to see all the lovely features!
