I love these months of down time because I feel like I have a moment to reconnect on my blog; during the busy season, lots of what I share are stunning sunrise engagement sessions or black tie DC weddings and there just isn’t a second for much else without spamming you five days a week! So to avoid that, I save some of my more personal posts for the slow days and am happy to be back to that! I can’t believe it’s been over a year since my first (and second) 10 things posts! I’m so much more than just a Washington, DC wedding photographer, so I wanted to share a few of the quirky/funny things about me!

1. I still wear my retainers, every.single.night. AND they are the original pair I got in 7th (!!) grade! 
2. My first screen name was GapGrl446. Remember ShopGrl from You’ve Got Mail? I loved that movie and it was a play on that. I was 11, sue me. 
3. In high school, I worked at Red Robin as a hostess. That’s not the interesting part though — every Thursday during hockey season, I got to dress up as the Red Robin and go to Hershey Bears (the farm team for the Caps) games and have dance offs with Cocoa the Bear.

4. I grew up in Hershey, PA which is right outside of Amish country. It wasn’t uncommon to see a horse and buggie rolling down the back road.
5. Toilet paper rolls should roll over, not under. End of story.
6. I’ve yet to be selected for jury duty, but secretly really want to go as I think court cases are fascinating. I’m sure that will change the day it actually comes time to serve!
7. Remember those cute, wispy bangs of the late 90’s a la Britney Spears? That’s how I wanted my hair in 6th grade; this is what I got: 8. I have a weird thing about food textures. Smell and taste don’t bother me so much, but texture can make or break something for me! For example — yogurt. I love yogurt! But I only like the little kid kind that doesn’t have any chunks in it!
9. Despite running a business that requires having an online presence and sharing tons of personal information, I am incredibly introverted. After being in large group settings, I need time to regenerate (my personality type is: ISTJ).
10. My favorite word is fernweh and there is no English equivalent. It’s German definition is essentially being homesick for a place you’ve never been; the craving for travel.
